If you are in a car or on public transport

   1. In town, drive towards a shelter

   Drive calmly towards the nearest shelter and follow the traffic rules. Do not brake suddenly or block traffic.

   2. Avoid dangerous places

   Do not stop on bridges, viaducts or in tunnels, or near petrol stations and power facilities.

   3. When danger is close, leave the car

   Stop safely away from the road and switch off the engine. A car is not a shelter — take cover in a ditch or low ground and cover your head.

   4. On public transport

   Follow the driver’s instructions. When the vehicle stops, get off and go to the nearest shelter.
