Drones in Lithuania — what to do when you see one
An unknown drone or flying object is not the same thing as an announced air raid alert. Here is what to do, and how to report it.
You have seen a drone
- Do not approach it, and do not try to bring it down or catch it.
- If it is landing, falling or already down, do not touch it or any debris. Move away.
- If people or property are in danger, call 112.
- Note the time, where you were, and the direction it was flying.
If you find debris or a suspicious object, call 112 and wait for the emergency services.
How to report it
A report here does not replace a call to 112. It exists to build a picture: when many people in different places report the same object, a marker with a direction appears on the map.
What helps: when you saw it, where you were, and which way it was moving. Exact report locations are never shown to anyone — the position on the map is always approximate.
COMMUNITY REPORTS and OFFICIAL — the difference
The map and the home screen carry two different kinds of information, and they are never mixed:
- OFFICIAL — the air raid status announced by the state. Only this colours the page and declares an alert.
- COMMUNITY REPORTS — what people have reported. It is not confirmed, and it is not an air raid alert.
Community reports appear on the map only when enough different people report the same object. One report is never enough, and the marker itself is always labelled as an estimate.
